So....since opening in 2014 this is my first blog post! - as ashamed as I am to admit that.
I'm just sat here contemplating how I'm going to survive the next couple of days, what with it being VALENTINES week. I'm unsure how I make it through every year - but I do!
to be quite honest I never have a lot of time spare to write a blog, but I feel its something I really want to try and squeeze in on those admin days this year! not only for you guys to have a little gander at but for my own mental wellbeing. I find there's nothing more therapeutic than writing. just a few minutes a day to let it all out!
So I spent all of last week trying to attempt to organise the men of the world. the same thing I do every single year may I add.... but it hasn't worked yet again. I stay optimistic each year, but who am I kidding?!
So as it stands I have around 5 orders in the diary for valentines day - doesn't seem much hey?! - last year I panicked and thought..is this it?! I'm going to be the only florist on Valentines day with no orders?! But fear not...I made over 100 bouquets with my bare hands in the space of about 48 hours. It seems no matter how much you rub their noses in it, men don't seem to get the hint...until the day before!
I must admit I get such a buzz from Valentines week. It starts off very calmly, then for about 3 days straight I finish at midnight, wake up for those early morning trips to market at 3am, then repeat the whole process again. all of this happens with the help of my best girls, keeping me company and feeding me snacks. I couldn't get through it without the continuous supply of very strong coffee and the moral support of my friends - none of which could make a bouquet if they tried, but nether the less, I couldn't cope without them. Another little duo I cant live without is my parents - both in the floristry business. Hourly phone calls to my Mumma keep me going to see if she is still alive over in her shop. We keep each other going and have a little giggle at the funny ol' requests we come across! - Stay tuned for a few of those crackers.
people tend to underestimate us florists, they assume we potter around in our aprons making stuff look pretty all day long. which, is partly true, but the rest they don't see! this is why I want to enlighten you all to the secret society of floristry. I like to think of us as flower making heroes. follow me on Instagram @rosyleaflorist to have a sneak peak in the working day of a florist - this week will be especially fun! I try my best to document it as I go but it does get awfully busy - I don't even have time for a tinkle! so bare with me guys...but I hope you enjoy!
Go easy on me for the first blog post, I'm not used to this so I apologise for the bad writing. but hey....im a florist anyways so it doesn't matter too much right?! Who's judging anyhow?
Ciao for now my wonderful little rosy lea lovers.........wish me luck!
